ALVVAYS (London Islington Assembly Hall, 07/10/22)

In terms of pure songwriting ability, ALVVAYS may well be my favourite indie-pop band of recent years, and this set embraced both their excellent new album 'Blue Rev' and their already formidable catalogue of fan favourites. Could have done without the superfan tunelessly screaming every lyric and riff in my ear, and they’re not the most dynamic performers you’ll ever see, but sometimes it really is all about the songs.
