GRANDADDY & THE LOST MACHINE ORCHESTRA (London Palladium, 26/04/22)
I’ll
be frank, I was expecting this to be an all-timer, but things
just didn’t
quite click the way I hoped it would. I love Grandaddy, I love lush
orchestral arrangements, but the end result was too singularly-paced
to stir
the old heartstrings.
That said, it
was still a thoroughly lovely evening
(despite the odd heckling
danger
in the audience), and “A Lost Machine” remains one of the most
gorgeous songs of recent years.
