I expected skronk from the 81 year old free jazz sax legend, and skronk we got. What I hadn't expected so much were the moments of beauty that the four dazzling instrumentalists coaxed out of the squalling chaos. Challenging, but worth it, particularly as this would prove to be Brotzmann’s last ever public performance before passing away in June.
