There are vanishingly few bands I would consider travelling to another continent for, but the moment I heard Sunset Rubdown were reuniting for a few dates around North America, it became inevitable that my bank balance was going to take an absolute kicking. Were these objectively the best gigs I’ve ever seen? No. But sometimes being in a room full of like-minded people singing along to painfully obscure mid-Noughties Canadian indie-rock sbout ghosts, snakes, horses and all of the above with all the gusto a long-starved fandom can muster is as exhilarating an experience as one could possibly have.
