In 1972, a young composer named Arthur Verocai released a fantastic self-titled album that fused soul, jazz-funk, bossa nova and samba, and like most great art, it was roundly ignored by the listening public. Half-a-century later, that a performance of said album (featuring the maestro himself) sells out the London Barbican, with every song triggering some of the loudest ovations I've heard in my life.
