KAMASI WASHINGTON (London Brixton Academy, 13/04/25)

I still love Kamasi, and when he's on form he's untouchable, but I fear he's succumbing to his most self-indulgent instincts. The hip-hop/DJ elements never gelled as much as they should, and the flow just wasn't at the level we've come to expect from one of the greatest jazzmen of our times. Yet, even a disappointing Kamasi show had more "wow" moments than some bands have in their entire careers...
